Delaware was founded by Peter Minuit, it was founded for trade and profits. It was founded on December 7, 1878. Delaware was founded by Peter Muniut on December 7, 1878. It was founded for trade and agriculture. Peter Munuit was Dutch and formed New Sweden as part of New Netherland. And when Charles II,the King of England gave his brother James, the Duke of York, New Netherland. James demanded and received its surrender. He renamed New Sweden to Delaware. Delaware was a part of Pennsylvania until 1703.
